Coming up

Kim de l’Horizon’s Blutbuch came out last autumn, scooping up the Swiss and German Book Prizes and creating a huge buzz. Numerous translations of this Swiss debut novel are planned or underway. 

Translation House Looren is hosting a workshop with eleven translators of the book from 13 to 18 May. The novel offers fascinating translation challenges and huge creative opportunities: non-binary language, different registers of Swiss dialect, and neologisms all feature strongly. The participating translators’ target languages are Italian, Dutch, Slovak, Catalan, Danish, French, Czech, Croatian, Norwegian, English and Spanish.

The translation programme at the Solothurn Days of Literature from 19 to 21 May features Nataša Medved and Jamie Lee Searle in conversation with Kim de l’Horizon about their translation of Kim’s award-winning debut Blutbuch into Croatian and English. Directed by Iryna Herasimovich.
