The new initiative from Looren América Latina Fervur rumantscha! supports the foundation of literary translation projects by plumbing mutual understandability (intercomprehension) between Romance languages such as Spanish, Portuguese and Romansh.

Following an introductory workshop in October 2023, Looren América Latina now invites poetry translators into Spanish and Portuguese and poets with translation experience to an online translation studio. Using digital dictionaries and translation programs and involving Romansh writers and translators, the studio will accompany translations of contemporary Romansh poets from Switzerland into Spanish and Portuguese. The six sessions will take place from February to April 2024.

The studio leaders are Prisca Agustoni (Portuguese) and Martina Fernández Polcuch (Spanish). Sidonia Klainguti and Jessica Zuan will provide linguistic advice. Zuan will officially open the studio with an introductory presentation of the poets involved.

Knowledge of Spanish or Portuguese is necessary – Romansh skills are not.
