Two cities, twenty scenes: the third and final litafrika exhibition focuses on two metropolises in West Africa: Abidjan in Côte d’Ivoire and Accra in Ghana.

The starting points are the feminist library 1949books and the archive The Library of Africa and the African Diaspora (LOATAD). Yet the scenes are diverse: literature is also rap, slam, dance, storytelling. Through video installations and photography, the exhibition plunges visitors into the literary life of Abidjan and Accra, presenting contemporary writers and spotlighting the colonial past of two neighbouring countries that are both close and far apart.

The exhibition is curated by an international collective of curators; video recordings were made by local filmmakers in Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana.

Exhibition trilogy litafrika 2022–2024

Strauhof and the Litar Foundation have dedicated the exhibition trilogy litafrika (2022 to 2024) to the literatures of the African continent. The third and final litafrika exhibition in 2024 builds upon the previous two, Poetries of a Continent(2022) and Artistic Encounters (2023).

Le Centre de traduction littéraire de Lausanne a su prouver l’importance de la traduction littéraire au grand public par l’organisation d’événements variés. Il offre aussi une formation unique en son genre pour la relève en traduction littéraire, notamment en valorisant le savoir et l’expérience de traducteurs aguerris, grâce au Programme Gilbert Musy. Nous avons voulu placer ces échanges et cette passion au coeur de ces deux jours de festivités. Trente-cinq ans, c’est l’occasion de regarder en arrière, mais surtout en avant ! Le Prix lémanique de la traduction, créé en 1985, est un prix d’excellence dans le domaine de la traduction littéraire. Doté de deux fois CHF 10’000.- et d’un séjour au Collège de traducteurs Looren, il récompense tous les trois ans deux personnes, dont l’une traduit du français vers l’allemand et l’autre de l’allemand vers le français. Cette année, le quatorzième Prix lémanique de la traduction est décerné à parts égales à Lis Künzli (vers l’allemand) et Françoise Toraille (vers le français), deux traductrices contribuant depuis de nombreuses années à stimuler les échanges littéraires et intellectuels entre ces deux langues. Les allocutions en l’honneur des lauréates seront prononcées par Marion Graf et Isabelle Vonlanthen.

Bristol Translates is aimed at practising translators at any stage of their career and at language enthusiasts who want to explore the world of literary translation. The summer school offers the opportunity to work with leading professional translators to translate texts across different literary genres. Bristol Translates summer school takes place entirely online, making it accessible to participants around the world. Workshop groups are limited to a maximum of 12 students. The programme features language-specific translation workshops, both into and out of English, as well as hands-on sessions about various aspects of today’s translation sector, industry talks and professional and networking sessions.
