Inese Petersone, born 1952 in Riga, has translated over 50 novels and plays into Latvian, including titles by Patrick Modiano, Jacqueline Harpman, Jacques De Decker and Roland Buti. In 2009 she was awarded the Prix littéraire de la Communauté française de Belgique in the translation category, and since 2016 she has been a Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres de la République Française. As a Looren à Lavigny grant-holder she will be working in May 2019 at Château de Lavigny on her translation of Joël Dicker’s La Disparition de Stephanie Mailer.

Andrea Spingler has translated French literature into German for forty years. Recent authors include Maylis de Kerangal and Pascale Kramer, whose latest book, Une famille, she will be translating in May 2019 at Château de Lavigny as a Looren à Lavigny grant-holder. In 2007 Andrea Spingler was awarded the Eugen Helmlé Übersetzerpreis; in 2012 the Prix lémanique de la traduction.

Petruţa Spânu is emeritus professor of Francophone literature at the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University in Iaşi, Romania, and the Marie Curie-Skłodowska Univerity in Lublin, Poland. She has published many critical texts as well as 77 works of French, Belgian, Swiss and Polish literature in Romanian translation. In 2005 she was awarded the Prix littéraire de la Communauté française de Belgique in the translation category. She is a Chevalier de l’Ordre des Palmes académiques françaises (2005) and an Officier de l’Ordre de Léopold belge (2006). At the Château de Lavigny she will be translating Charles Ferdinand Ramuz's novel La séparation des rasses (1922).

Alexandre Pateau, was born 1982 and lives in Berlin. He translates from German and English into French, such as, amongst others, works by Carolin Emcke, Jan Wagner and Peter Bichsel. From January 6th to 17th, he will be at Translation House Looren working on an anthology out of an exchange of correspondence of Rainer Maria Rilke together with his colleague Jeanne Wagner for Robert Laffont publishing house in Paris.
His stay is supported by a scholarship from the Elmar Tophoven Mobility Fund of the DVA Foundation and the Deutscher Übersetzerfonds.

Alexandre Pateau translates from German and English into French. The authors to be discovered or rediscovered in his translation include Carolin Emcke, Jan Wagner, Peter Bichsel and Clemens Meyer. Spending May 2019 in Château de Lavigny and January 2020 in Translation House Looren, he worked on a French anthology of unpublished letters by Rainer Maria Rilke. In October 2020 he returned to Château de Lavigny to translate Berthold Brecht’s Hauspostille.
